Interstitial cystitis, also known as painful bladder syndrome, is a chronic condition that can be challenging to manage.

Treatments may include:

  • Medical therapy
  • Physical Therapy or Bladder Training
  • Bladder Instillation:  Medications are introduced directly into the bladder via catheterization.
  • Hydrodistention:  Increasing the bladder by stretching the total capacity with water.
  • Surgery for severe cases may be required such as bladder augmentation
  • Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS): A device worn on the body that modifies pain pathways.
